Children and Youth

Children and Youth of Post 286 is a very busy and community minded part of our post family.

We offer a coloring contest for our 5th graders, with the best sent on to the county level for further award consideration. Along the same theme we offer a safety essay contest for our 7th graders, again with the best being sent on to the county level. For our high school graduating seniors we offer a 1000 dollar scholorship to help with their college endeavors. We offer consideration for runners up as well depending on quality of the submissions we receive and runner up awards in most cases. Our program is funded mainly from our annual golf outing. In addidtion we also sponsor high school juniors to participate in The American Legion boys and girls state programs..
