Boys State

Boys' State began in New Jersey in 1946.  It is currently held at Rider University each June with over 850 yearly participants, all of whom are in the eleventh grade.  The program strives "to educate our youth in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American Citizenship."  Boys State offers it delegates various seminars, the opportunity to meet numerous state politicians, hosts a college fair featuring over seventy institutions and culminates in a combined family day, graduation ceremony.

Post 286 sends three to eight delegates per year to the program.  Three post members are on the Boys State Staff and two additional former delegates return yearly as counselors.  We hold two elected trustee positions out of 45 state wide and one appointed position, assistant director.  It has been our mission to educate and enhance the lives of those who participate.  Boys State is truly a program that proves to be, "an experience that will shape a lifetime."
